Introduction

The Colorado Rockies are one of Major League Baseball’s youngest franchises, joining the National League as an expansion team in 1993. Based in Denver, the Rockies quickly developed a distinctive identity shaped by the high-altitude environment of Colorado and an offense-first style that has produced some of the most memorable hitters of the modern era. Although sustained postseason success has often been difficult to achieve, the franchise has built a rich history highlighted by record-setting offensive performances, a memorable run to the World Series, and several players who became synonymous with baseball in Colorado.

The Rockies have competed in the National League West throughout their history, reaching their greatest team success in 2007 when they captured their first National League pennant and advanced to the World Series after an extraordinary late-season surge. Colorado’s history has been defined by stars such as Todd Helton, Larry Walker, Andrés Galarraga, Dante Bichette, Troy Tulowitzki, and Nolan Arenado, with Helton and Walker becoming the first players primarily associated with the Rockies to earn induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
