1967 Six-time Yankee All-Star pitcher Red Ruffing is elected to the Hall of Fame. Along with being a six-time World Series champion Ruffing won 273 career games including four consecutive seasons of 20 or more wins.
1952 77-year old legend Honus Wagner retires after spending more than 40 years in the game as both a player and coach.
