1980 The San Diego Padres trade future Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry and two minor leaguers to the Rangers for Willie Montanez. Perry would pitch in 24 for the Rangers before being traded to the Yankees.
1916 The New York Yankees buy Home Run Baker from the Philadelphia Athletics for $37,500. Baker sat out the entire 1915 season because of a contract dispute with Connie Mack. While Baker played six seasons with New York he was never the same player after sitting out the 1915 season.
