Boston Red Sox All-Time Roster

This is the Boston Red Sox all-time roster. The roster consists of one starter and one bench player for each infield position and one starter and one bench player for each outfield position. Hitters had to have a minimum of 1,500 plate appearances. For pitching, I selected five starting pitchers and three relief pitchers. Starting pitchers had to start at least 75 games during their time with the franchise to qualify. Relief pitchers had to accumulate a minimum of 150 innings pitched to be eligible.

  1. Do not know how this team could not include Jim Rice. Seeing as you claim to assign a DH for AL teams, Ortiz ( who I don’t recall ever seeing in the outfield ) should very easily be assigned DH duties and make Rice an outfielder. I understand how oversights can be made, but these were glaring in their lack of overall perspective. Other than that, very cool effort. Love this stuff!

  2. Manny Ramirez ahead of Yaz? You’ve got to be kidding! Okay, perhaps Ramirez was a better hitter statically speaking but he couldn’t hold a candle to Yaz defensively. And Yaz never dogged it at the plate or in the field something you could never say about Ramirez.
Yaz is in the Hall. Only way Ramirez gets in is by paying admission, just like me.

  3. How can you leave out Dick Radatz as one of the relief pitches? He was ‘the Monster’ before relief pitches had specialty roles. They would pitch him 2 or 3 innings a day for days on end.
