Introduction

The Miami Marlins are one of Major League Baseball’s younger franchises, joining the National League as an expansion team in 1993 as the Florida Marlins. Despite a relatively short history, the franchise quickly established a reputation for dramatic postseason success, winning its first World Series championship in just its fifth season. The organization became the Miami Marlins in 2012, reflecting a new era for the franchise. Over the years, the Marlins have experienced frequent roster turnover and rebuilding periods, but their history has also featured championship teams, remarkable individual seasons, and the development of numerous stars.

The Marlins have competed in the National League East throughout their history and have won two National League pennants and two World Series championships, capturing titles in 1997 and 2003. Both championship runs came as wild-card teams, with the 2003 club producing one of the franchise’s most memorable postseason journeys. Players such as Jeff Conine, Gary Sheffield, Luis Castillo, Josh Beckett, Miguel Cabrera, José Fernández, and Giancarlo Stanton have played prominent roles in Marlins history, while Stanton became the franchise’s most prolific power hitter. This hub brings together the franchise’s greatest players, historic seasons, statistical leaders, all-time rosters, and other resources covering the history of the Miami Marlins.
